Speechcraft is a finite public speaking and leadership course that normally a club runs to achieve public outreach and membership building. It is rarely a cure for a struggling club, though it can be a tool for a sudden burst of marketing, and an exact date/program to invite new or existing leads to.
Thomas ran a successful Speechcraft in Downunder in 2023. At that time the club had 15 members, and attracted 5 Speechcraft participants, of which 3 became members. As Speechcraft often is, it was a project on the Path to DTM for Thomas.
Toastmasters International provides vague instructions with loads of options, and the program as suggested seemed non-sensical to Thomas. What is provided below is the Forward Planner and five agendas that were used in that exact speechcraft. The dates, meeting numbers, educational topics, timings are all in tact. But names have been removed. And below that, the big chunks of marketing that was used.
Coordinating a Speechcraft can be a huge task. It involved 6 weeks of intense marketing, then the course itself which required extensive thought and planning. However, feel free to copy what has worked before and provided below.
Do note, conversion from participant to member can be difficult. Participants were sold a finite-length short course, then offered ongoing membership. They are likely to join if they enjoyed the club and sessions, and saw value in this introductory program.
